Iron Smoke Whiskey-Whiskey brings together LiDestri, Iron Smoke
Two Fairport-based companies are taking a shot at the craft spirits industry.
Iron Smoke Whiskey and LiDestri Food and Drink have announced an agreement that will allow the two to expand into the industry, which is growing at a rate of about 30 percent a year, according to the American Distilling Institute.
Under the agreement, Iron Smoke will supply small-batch whiskey to LiDestri to offer to its retail customers. Iron Smoke expects to double production to 2,000 cases per month by the end of this year. It plans to up production to 4,000 cases in 2017.
Iron Smoke sources ingredients from farmers in the Finger Lakes region. It has worked with Red Jacket Orchards to make Rattlesnake Rosie’s Apple Pie Whiskey, an applewood-smoked, bourbon whiskey aged 18 to 20 months in virgin American oak barrels.
